What is a Glueless Wig?

Before we dive into the steps, let's first understand what a glueless wig is, its features, and the products needed to wear your Glueless wig. Unlike traditional wigs that require adhesive or glue to stay in place, glueless wigs are designed with adjustable straps and combs that secure the wig to your head. This innovative design allows for easy application and removal, making it a game-changer for wig wearers.

What are Nalva Glueless Wigs?

Nalva wigs are custom, beginner-friendly, long-lasting wigs that have built-in features such as

  • High-resistant elastic bands that are adjustable.
  • Ear tab guides that help you position your Nalva wig.
  • Silicone wig combs that would allow you to wear these wigs properly with ease, and
  • Breathable fully stretchy material that can be worn all day comfortably.

Features of the Nalva Glueless Wig Cap

The adjustable elastic band is at the back of the wig cap. It has an easily installable small elastic band with plastic hooks. There is one strap on each side of the wig.

The Ear tabs serve as a guide when you wear your wigs. When placed directly in front of your ears, your wig will most likely be in the middle and straight.

The Wig combs are clip combs made with silicone, an added feature that helps you pin the wig to your natural hair for more security. On a roller coaster ride, this will come in handy.

    Products Needed

    In preparing to wear your wig, you would need a few products to remain organized and work fast;

    • Combs
    • Brush
    • Water Spray Bottle
    • Leave-in Conditioner
    • Bobby Pins
    • Wig Cap
    • Rubber Band
    • Lightweight Hair Serum
    • Mirror
    • Lace Tint or Bronzer
    • Makeup Brush
    • Mousse

    Step 1: Prepare Your Natural Hair

    Start by preparing your natural hair. Make sure it is clean, dry, and neatly braided or flattened. This will provide a smooth base for the wig and ensure a comfortable fit. If you have longer hair, consider using a wig cap to keep your hair in place and prevent any bulges. See below for more details.

    For Silky hair;

    • Spray a bit of water on your hair, it makes it flatter and takes the shape of the wig cap as you wear it.
    • Brush or comb your hair backward.
    • Make two braids, securing the ends with a small rubber band.
    • Wrap them behind your head, not overlapping them.
    • Pin the body and ends of the braids to your hair with bobby pins.
    • Wear a wig cap, place it on your skin, and pull backward until an inch of your hair is visible.

    For Coarse Hair;

    • Spray a bit of water on your hair, it makes it flatter and takes the shape of the wig cap as you wear it.
    • Apply leave-in conditioner and castor oil on your hair.
    • Oil your scalp.
    • Brush or comb your hair backward.
    • Cornrow your hair into 8-15 backward braids depending on the thickness of your hair.
    • Wear a wig cap, place it on your skin, and pull backward until an inch of your hair is visible.
    • Wearing a wig cap is optional.

    Step 2: Adjust the Straps

    Most glueless wigs come with adjustable straps at the back. Adjust the tightness of the straps before putting on the wig, this will give you a secure and comfortable fit instantly. Insert the hooks into any of the 8 holes at the back of the wig. The farther the hole is from the strap, the tighter the wig becomes. Hold the Nape tabs with both hands.

    Step 3: Position the Wig

    Place the wig on your head, against the beginning of your hairline adjust it to your desired position, and pull backward till the Nape of the wig cap is sitting against the Nape of your head. The wig should sit snugly on your hairline, with the front of the wig aligning with your natural hairline. Use a mirror to ensure the wig is centered and symmetrical.

    Step 4: Secure with Combs

    Glueless wigs typically have combs on the inside that help secure the wig in place. Gently slide the combs into your natural hair, starting from the front and working your way to the back. Make sure the combs are securely attached to prevent any shifting or slipping.

    Step 5: Adjust the Straps

    Now that the wig is in place, it's time to adjust the straps for a perfect fit. Gradually tighten the straps at the back until the wig feels secure but not too tight. You should be able to move your head comfortably without the wig shifting.

    Step 6: Style and Blend

    Once the wig is securely in place, it's time to style and blend it with your natural hair. Use a comb or brush to blend the wig with your own hair, creating a seamless and natural look. You can also use heat styling tools to add curls or straighten the wig, depending on your desired style.

    Step 7: Maintenance

    It is important to know that wig caps and human hair are subject to wear and tear. The more often you wear the wig caps, they become loose and that’s how you know it's time to change them. This does not mean you have to wear them less, it just means after a few years, the wig cap would need to be changed and the wig remade.

    The human hair would need to be washed and treated as soon as it gets stiff and heavy. These are services offered on my website so please do take your time to check out all our options.
